Taiwanese-American Heritage Celebrated

Students at UC Berkeley planned a series of activities to introduce the Taiwanese culture to the campus community. As organizers of the "Taiwanese Heritage Event," they raised awareness about the richness and diversity of the Taiwanese culture.

Specifically, on April 29, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m,. Taiwanese heritage was celebrated through a special outdoor display erected at the Sather Gate Crescent. This daytime event featured Taiwanese traditional and contemporary music and a display that presented pictures of Taiwan's landmarks, indigenous peoples and natural scenery. These pictures of Taiwan were shown on a cup design of "po-pa," a Taiwanese invention also known as pearl milk tea. A few phrases romanized in Taiwanese were alao presented.

Photos of the outdoor display activity are as follows.

"Taiwanese-American Heritage Event" is organized by Berkeley Students for a Sovereign Taiwan (BST), and is ASUC sponsored and wheelchair accessible.
